Sponsor
Australian sponsor responsibilities after inclusion.
A sponsor relationship does not end when a device is included in the ARTG. In Australia, the sponsor remains the local regulatory contact and must support ongoing compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
Why sponsor responsibilities matter
The sponsor is the Australian-based entity linked to the supply of the device. This role can involve TGA communication, maintaining evidence, supporting adverse event and recall processes, and ensuring regulatory records remain current.
For overseas manufacturers, sponsor selection is strategic. If the sponsor is also a commercial distributor, the manufacturer may later face challenges if the distributor relationship changes. An independent sponsor can help keep regulatory control separate from sales channels.
Typical ongoing obligations
- Maintaining access to manufacturer evidence and technical documentation.
- Responding to TGA enquiries, audit requests, or information requests.
- Supporting adverse event, complaint, recall, and field safety processes.
- Managing ARTG changes, product changes, and sponsor records.
- Keeping labelling, IFU, and promotional claims aligned with Australian requirements.
How Ocevia helps
Ocevia supports sponsor representation and the practical systems around it: sponsor agreements, TGA correspondence, ARTG maintenance, post-market workflows, and evidence control. The goal is to keep the Australian market entry compliant after launch, not only during application.
